I'll never forget New Year's Day 2023 - as I looked at my dusty, unfinished goals journal entry from 2022, I realized something had to change. I needed to set meaningful, achievable goals I could actually accomplish in the next 365 days.
I just read Dr Fei Fei Li’s book and I absolutely loved it. I am feeling as AI inspired and optimistic as ever. Cherishing the lessons I learned from this book, here are my 6 favorite:

In search of a control group to compare her findings, she uncovered a shocking truth: affluent suburban teenagers were struggling more with substance abuse and mental health than less privileged peers.1
I have spent hundreds of hours mentoring middle and high school students on their writing. My key observation? They conflate eloquent writing with complex vocabulary.

For me, it started with avocado toast and ended with a race around the world. I am not kidding!! It was beyond challenging trying to figure out what to write about for my college essay. How could I distinguish myself in 2500 words that would essentially destroy or solidify my dream? As I struggled with where to begin and then how to end, the Hamilton lyrics "I am not going to miss my shot" played on autopilot in my head. Whatever I was going to construct had to be engaging, unique, soulful, poetic, creative, cool, layered, and brilliant. It also had to seamlessly reveal all of my best qualities without me sounding obnoxiously boastful or ridiculously humble. No pressure. No problem.
On June 1st, 2020, Alec and I launched our very first website. Curious Cardinals was officially born! 🎉
